Come join pastors, school principals, parents and pupils in the annual Solstice Splash to raise vital funds to support vulnerable Tasmanians.

Devonport Chaplaincy hosts the annual three-minute shiverfest to support school chaplains, school breakfast programs, provide mental health first aid training, student and learner driver mentors in the North-West.

The swim is 8am on Saturday, June 22, at Devonport (Mersey Bluff).

The goal is to raise over $60,000 from individual and team sponsorships.

Participants receive hot breakfast rolls and the satisfaction of having endured a little discomfort to help others. Our generous surf club partners provide water safety, first aid and breakfast.

There’s also prizes for the highest individual and team fundraisers, so we encourage healthy competition between all involved.

Devonport Chaplaincy CEO Andrew Hillier said the annual swims attracted hundreds of people who wanted to make life better for hundreds of Tasmanians who need a little extra support to overcome financial and mental health pressures.

“The swims are an important component of our fundraising efforts each year, to enable our life-changing work to continue,” he said.

“Chaplains work in 19 schools to provide pastoral and practical care, from a word of encouragement to assisting with the school breakfast program, and arranging emergency food hampers,” he said.

“We also organise mentors for individual students, driver mentors for those wanting to get their licence, and provide mental health first aid training.

“Every week, we impact thousands of people.”
