Keeping Everyone Safe
The safety and wellbeing of those in our care is our highest priority.
All chaplains and mentors are carefully vetted, trained and supervised by our staff before and during their service with Devonport Chaplaincy as a chaplain, student mentor, general volunteer or driver mentor
All staff and volunteers are required to have a current Working with Vulnerable People card and be registered with the Department of Justice as a Devonport Chaplaincy volunteer.
Mentors must also have a Schedule 1 police check carried out before they commence volunteering with Devonport Chaplaincy.
All of our mentors are trained mandatory reporters in line with Government regulations outlined in the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1997 ( amended in 2009)
Our mentors are aware of the process for mandatory reporting as outlined by the Tasmanian Government's Strong Families/Safe Kids initiative.
